and includes free all-natural and organic beer, wine samples and
healthy hors 'd oeuvres. Must be 21 and up to participate. We had a blast, they were generous and even gave us roses. They have an amazing selection of organic foods great prices. Native Sun holds this event every third Thursday of the month. Make plans to attend the next one, make new friends, and try something new. You even may want to take home a bottle of their amazing champagne. Afterward several of us went to Otaki Japanese Steakhouse for dinner.

Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at a Mandarin townhome on Friday, February 6. The fire which occurred on Pathwood Way off of Losco Road, destroyed the townhome. No one was injured in the blaze.

The Vino Group, which is one of the groups from meetup.com, got together and attended the wine tasting at ABC Wine and Spirits on 8771 BAYMEADOWS RD. For only $10, you get to try several wines, free tasty treats, and receive a coupon for $5 off your purchase. I am new to this group and was very welcomed. Afterward, several of us headed over to Pattaya Thai on 9551 Baymeadows Rd, for great food and more laughs. Check us out and if you are interested sign up and become a member. FCCJ Hosts MLK Basketball Extravanganza

With some of the hottest basketball teams in all of Florida, FCCJ-South was the site for intense high school boys basketball action with the running of the Seventh annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Showcase Friday through Monday. Featured teams included a barrage of Miami area squads and Jacksonville's best with top-ranked Providence the highlight of Monday's action. Galleries here are from Monday's schedule.
The Leeds Rhinos took on the Salford City Reds in Rugby League action at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville Florida Saturday afternoon. Leeds was victorious with a late game score after trailing most of the game. The final score was 10 to 12.
The Salford City Reds will face off with the back-to-back Super League champion Leeds Rhinos in a preseason rugby game at 2 p.m. Saturday January 17th at UNF's Hodges Stadium. The teams combined a press conference with lunch at the Outback Steakhouse on Baymeadows Road on Friday January 16, 2009.

The Friends of the Jacksonville University Library met October 16, 2008, at the Jacksonville Historical Society for their Annual Membership Coffee. The event celebrated the 40-year affiliation between JHS and JU. Four of the Friends were honored for their service to JU and to the Jacksonville community – Dr. Frances Bartlett Kinne, Mrs. Florence N. Davis, Mrs. Carol Shircliff (in absentia), and Mrs. Mary Virginia Terry (in absentia).

On Friday September 19th, Jacksonville Scene and Thursday Night Drinking Club participated in the Trust for Public Land "Park(ing) Day". In 90 cities across the country people set up temporary parks in parallel parking spots to promote parks in downtown areas. We had tons of people stop by and enjoy our park during their lunch break, smoke break or just to get out of work a little early. Special thanks to A1 Sod for providing the grassy area for us to walk around barefoot in all day and to Gecko Gardens for masterfully creating our private city oasis.
