Under the threat of rain, seniors from regional high schools met in a battle of North vs. South at Mandarin High School. The North prevailed with a score of 21-0. Schools represented include Englewood, Baldwin, Fernandina Beach, First Coast, Forrest, Stanton, Trinity Christian, Eagle's View, Raines, White, Jackson, Lee, Yulee, Parker, Episcopal, Ribault, West Nassau, Paxon, Bishop Snyder, Mandarin, Wolfson, Mandarin Christian, Orange Park, Providence, St. Augustine, Fleming Island, Clay, Sandalwood, Nease, Bartram Trail, Middleburg, Menendez, Creekside, Ridgeview and St. Johns Country Day.
World Famous Lipizzaner Stallions came to the Veterans Memorial Arena and fans braved the cold winds to see the amazing show. See if you were spotted.

The Portrait Society of America in conjunction with UNF sponsored a two-day event held in UNF's Fine Art Center on November 12th & 13th 2009 that featured a demonstration by Jacksonville's world renowned portraitist Ann Manry Kenyon. The event was attended by more than eighty artist that traveled from throughout the Southeast. On the second day Ms. Kenyon along with Tallahassee painter-sculptor Edward Jonas and UNF professor of art Kyle Keith conducted a workshop. The first annual Kids Win Fishing Tournament was held September 19 2009 at Browns Creek Fish Camp on Heckscher Drive and was open to ages 4 through 16. Winners in the two age groups 4 through 10 and 11 through 16 received trophies, cash and prizes. It was a day of fun for everyone and a huge success with over 100 families entering the contest. Next years date is already set, September 18 2010.

Parrothead Night at The Cummer

The Cummer Art Museum held a concert in the Gardens. The rain passed quickly and the day turn out to be perfect. It was Parrothead Night with Riptide. These guys did a great job and played for 4 hours. People brought blankets, food and drinks. Food was also available for purchase by TreeCup Cafe. The Cummer has always been one of my favorite places to visit. Be sure to check out the next concert which is on July 4th.
